Trans-Canada Highway: Calgary to Banff



Fairmont Banff Springs
Known as the “Castle in the Rockies”, the Fairmont Banff Springs is one of Canada’s most iconic hotels. Built in the late 19th century, a stay here is a true experience on its own. From its windows, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Rockies, lush forests, and the Bow River. Even if you’re not staying overnight, it’s worth stopping by the viewpoint to admire this architectural gem from a distance.



Bow Falls
Just a short distance from Fairmont Banff Springs are the Bow Falls. While not the tallest waterfalls, their impressive width and rushing waters make them spectacular. It’s a great spot for photos and to relax by the riverbank while soaking in the raw power of mountain nature.


Banff Gondola
Next, we headed to the Banff Gondola, which takes you to the top of Sulphur Mountain for breathtaking views of the Rockies. The summit offers a scenic boardwalk and a 360° view over the Bow Valley. There’s also an interactive interpretive center where you can learn about the region’s history and wildlife.






Johnston Canyon Resort
We spent the night at Johnston Canyon Resort, nestled in a dense forest at the foot of the Rockies. Cozy wooden cabins created the perfect mountain vibe. In the evening, we took a walk along Johnston Canyon, with trails featuring catwalks and tunnels carved into the rock – an unforgettable experience.





Lake Louise
Lake Louise is world-famous for its turquoise waters, colored by glacial silt from the Victoria Glacier. Surrounded by towering peaks, the lake is ideal for a tranquil stroll or a longer hike. Trails of varying difficulty make it accessible for all types of travelers.




Moraine Lake
After Lake Louise, we continued to Moraine Lake, located in the stunning Valley of the Ten Peaks. Its intensely blue waters make it one of the most photographed places in the Rockies. A short climb along the Rockpile Trail offers a view so iconic it once appeared on Canadian banknotes.

Giant Cedars Boardwalk
Located in Mount Revelstoke National Park, this boardwalk lets you wander among majestic ancient cedars, some over 500 years old. The easy wooden trail makes it accessible for everyone while immersing you in the magic of a temperate rainforest.



Downtown Revelstoke
Revelstoke is a charming town with local shops and cozy cafés. Walking its streets, you can feel the welcoming vibe and discover its rich history tied to the Canadian Pacific Railway. It’s also a great base for exploring the surrounding mountains.





Glacier National Park
A true paradise for nature lovers, Glacier National Park offers spectacular scenery filled with towering peaks, glaciers, and pristine wilderness. Numerous trails of varying difficulty allow close encounters with nature and breathtaking vistas.




Takakkaw Falls
Before leaving the Rockies, we visited Takakkaw Falls, one of Canada’s tallest waterfalls. The sight of the roaring water cascading down the cliffs is unforgettable, especially during spring snowmelt. A scenic trail makes this spot easily accessible to all.


Emerald Lake
Located in Yoho National Park, Emerald Lake stuns visitors with its vivid green water. Surrounded by towering peaks and lush forests, it’s a perfect destination for a peaceful walk or a canoe ride. Its serene atmosphere makes it one of the most relaxing spots in the Rockies.
