History and Atmosphere
Dublin Zoo, located in Ireland’s capital, is one of the oldest zoological gardens in the world, founded in 1831. Over time, it has transformed into a modern center for conservation, education, and recreation. What we loved most were the open spaces, lush greenery, and the sense that animals live almost in the wild. At times, it felt like we were strolling through an Irish forest rather than an enclosed park.

Niezapomniane spotkania ze zwierzętami
Dublin Zoo is home to over 400 animals representing 100 different species. Some encounters will stay with us forever:
Asian Elephants – Their habitat with a waterfall and pond is truly impressive. Watching their daily routines was a lesson in calm and grace.
Western Lowland Gorillas – In the Gorilla Rainforest, we met Bangui, the silverback, and his family. Their eyes and gestures were deeply moving.
Red Pandas – They look like living plush toys, napping on tree branches with their bright red fur standing out against the green leaves.
Asiatic Lions – Majestic and impossible to ignore.
African Savanna Area – A shared enclosure with giraffes, zebras, and sable antelopes (our personal “unicorns”) felt like a mini-safari. Seeing a giraffe against the lush Irish greenery is something you never forget.
Humboldt Penguins – They entertained us with their jumps and dives.
We saw a lot, but not everything – tigers and wolves stayed out of sight, which only sparked our curiosity and gave us a reason to return.

For Kids – and Not Only
The zoo features a large play area for children, perfect for family visits. Kids will love the variety of attractions such as slides, rope bridges, and wooden climbing structures. After meeting the animals, the playground is the perfect spot for kids to burn off energy while parents take a break. This combination of education and play makes the zoo an ideal day out for families.
